After cleaning out jars of rich night creams that failed to improve my skin condition, I leapt at the opportunity to try an entirely different method of skincare routine that would focus on treating the skin from within.

Vivida Tablets, made from a special marine protein complex, acerola cherry extract containing vitamin C and organic silica compound, are said to do just that. I was told that after a few months, the tablets will make the skin firmer and more elastic, smooth existing wrinkles, repair skin damages caused by overexposure to the sun, moisturize thin and frial hair and strengthen brittle and scaly nails. While Vivida does not profess to reverse or prevent the inevitable ageing process, it is believed to assist in slowing down the ageing process if taken as part of a daily skincare routine.

The marine-based product, developed by Finnish scientists from the Helsinki Research Centre with it's promise of giving the skin new vitality and increasing renewal of the skin cells seemed the perfect solution for someone with a hectic schedule like myself. The fact that the tablets only need to be consumed for a relatively short time to produce its full benefits made it even more tempting.

Before I started on the treatment programme, I underwent a skin analysis at Vivida's local distributor using a 'Dermascan' machine which can check the thickness of my skin. In fact, thick, elastic skin withstands threats from the harsh environmental hazards best and heals quickest. As I had suspected, my skin condition was really poor and the thickness was significantly lower than that of the average Singaporean female in my age group. The 10-minute session dispelled all preconceived ideas of me disposing my potions of night cream. My only consolation then was that sun-damaged skin (I have a terminal case of freckles) and aged skin have been known to benefit best from treatment.

As advised, I started the treatment with two tablets daily for the first two months. Initially, I was a bit sceptical of Vivida's claim that it can, if taken as part of the daily skincare routine, improve the skin's elasticity, texture and colour tone considerably in as little as three months. Besides, popping tablets, though fuss-free, was not part of the skincare routine I was brought up with.

About one month into the programme I came down with a flu. As it happened over a weekend, I could not consult Vivida's distributor whether it was appropriate for me to continue the treatment. Concerned, I decided to stop the treatment till I'd recovered completely from the flu. Coincidentally, it was around that time that I first noticed a slight improvement in my skin condition. Though there were no visible signs of improvement, I could already feel that my skin was more elastic and supple. My skin also felt less tired.

After two months on the treatment, I had another consultation session with the local distributor of Vivida tablets. The 'Dermascan' machine showed that my skin in terms of elasticity and thickness have improved quite considerably. I was also assured that Vivida tablets, being a completely natural product, have no known side-effects on people who are afflicted with minor illnesses.

I was also astonished with the result, particularly so as the treatment was fuss-free and inexpensive on a long-term basis. It is available at the major pharmacies. Apparently, I only need to take one tablet a day for the following four months to maintain the results. After the initial treatment, I could take a break of about three to five months before starting the course again.

Motivated by the results, I have now decided to continue with the treatment. In addition to taking health food supplement to maintain youthful looks, it is also important to pay attention to our lifestyle and daily diet. Adequate sleep, drinking lots of water, consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables and avoiding overexposure to the scorching sun will also help to protect the skin. After all, true beauty comes from within.
